On August 1, police responded to a residence in response to a 911 call.
Officers were advised that the caller stated she would be dying soon. It was
determined that the caller was under the influence of alcohol and had underlying
mental health issues. She was transported to the hospital for evaluation before
being transported to jail for an outstanding warrant.

On August 2, police were advised that a stolen credit card was used at a
local business. Through follow-up investigation a suspect was identified and
arrested for the offense.

On August 4, police were advised that a Mayor’s Court defendant had
paid his fines with a check on a closed account. The defendant was charged
with Passing Bad Checks and a warrant was issued for his arrest. His driver’s
license was also cancelled with BMV.

On August 10, police responded to a Criminal Damaging complaint. The
victim stated that sometime over a two week period, somebody entered her
property and damaged a trampoline.

On August 14, police assisted Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office on a hit
skip accident. A vehicle struck part of a residence in Canal Winchester and fled
the scene. Lithopolis Police located the vehicle along with two occupants, both
of whom were in an obvious state of intoxication. The officer detained the
occupants until deputies arrived to take them into custody. They were
additionally charged with Possession of Marijuana.

On August 15, police were dispatched on the report of a suspicious
person. The female was located and stated she was selling magazine
subscriptions. She became uncooperative, and after several attempts by the
officer to establish the woman’s identity, she was arrested and charged with
Falsification and Obstructing Official Business.

On August 19, police responded to a domestic dispute. It was
determined that the couple involved was in a verbal argument. No charges were
filed and the male left the residence.

On August 22, police responded to a three vehicle chain reaction
accident. It was determined that a driver struck the vehicle in front of her, forcing
it into another vehicle. She was cited for Assured Clear Distance Ahead.

On August 24, police responded to a theft complaint. The victim stated
that she was notified that she had won money, but would have to pay taxes in
advance. She wired several payments totaling approximately $25,000.00 before
realizing that she was the victim of a scam.

On August 26, police were flagged down by a female advising that she
was in a domestic dispute with her husband. She stated that her husband was
upset over their impending divorce and kept following her around the house in a
harassing manner. She stated that when she told her husband that she would
call the police, he disconnected the phone. Police made contact with the
husband and strongly advised him of his actions. He left the residence and no
charges were filed.

On August 26, police stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation and
discovered that the driver had eight open suspensions on his driving record. It
was also determined that he had taken the vehicle without the owner’s consent.
He was charged with Driving Under Suspension. The owner of the vehicle
declined to file charges.

On August 27, police were on patrol when they observed a vehicle
parked in front of a closed business. The vehicle was unoccupied and the
passenger door was open. Police observed drug paraphernalia and beer in the
vehicle. Two people were then observed behind the business. The female had
an opened container of beer. It was determined that the male had a warrant for
his arrest and was operating the vehicle without the owner’s consent. A
subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered drugs and other paraphernalia. The
male was placed under arrest and transported to jail. The vehicle owner declined
to file charges.

On August 28, police stopped a vehicle for several lane violations. Upon
stopping the vehicle, the driver went into a ditch. Subsequent investigation
revealed that the operator was under the influence of alcohol. He was placed
under arrest at that time.

On August 30, police responded to a theft call. The victim stated that he
loaned his bicycle to somebody, but that it was never returned. Police contacted
the other person, who claimed that he returned the bike earlier and that
somebody else must have taken it. There was no sign of the bike at his
residence.
